Susanne Jäckle is the head of the FAU Language Service and coordinates the paid services offered by the Writing Centre. As a trained writing coach, she also offers writing support for German native speakers.
After studying English, Spanish, German, and German as a Foreign Language, she held several different positions including as a project manager in the area of translation software and services in Munich and as a teacher of German as a foreign language in Mexico. She enjoys spending her free time on her yoga mat or in the woods with her dog and her children.
Julia Ellis-Simpson offers English-language workshops at the Schreibzentrum / Writing Centre. She also manages a project called BaySeV that provides resources to support Bavarian universities with their internationalization efforts and currently teaches German at the Language Centre. Her family is English, but she grew up in Germany, so she is bilingual and has always enjoyed working with people. She studied in St Andrews and Eichstätt and has many years’ experience teaching English (and German) at companies and universities in the south of Germany. In her free time, she enjoys reading, going for walks and spending time with family and friends.
Deirdre Rieker is a translator at the FAU Language Service. After graduating from St. Andrews University with a first class honours degree in Modern Languages (French, German and Spanish), she moved to Germany where she began work as a translator and language coach at various companies. She has always been fascinated by languages, and what she most likes about teaching English is the opportunity to meet new people from different cultures and accompany them on their journey towards becoming fluent and confident users of the foreign language. She most enjoys spending her free time exploring the local countryside with her 4 children and her dog.
Jasmin Haderlein works at the Language Centre in the German as a Foreign Language department and teaches, among other things, writing courses there. As a trained writing consultant, she is responsible for providing international advice at the Writing Centre. When she has free time, she likes to enjoy nature or a book on the sofa.
Sofia Rösl is responsible for the Writing Centre’s social media channels and marketing. She is studying French, Spanish and German as a second language to become a teacher. Her studies have sparked a love of languages, which is why she is currently taking an additional Italian course at the Language Centre. In her free time, she enjoys travelling and discovering other cultures and does voluntary work in animal welfare.
The Schreibzentrum / Writing Centre is a member of gefsus, the Society for Writing Didactics and Writing Research.
