Services offered by the Department of Media and Autonomous Learning

Introductory sessions

The Department of Media and Autonomous Learning regularly offers members of staff and students introductory sessions in using the available media equipment. If you have any questions about how to use the equipment in a particular room or how to use a certain piece of equipment, please do not hesitate to contact our service team.

Professional development

Courses for teaching staff which can be credited via the AKS training certificate for language teachers at universities, ‘FOBIcert’, are often offered at the Language Centre. These courses are organised by the Department of Media and Autonomous Learning.

Members of staff at the Department also regularly offer their own training courses at FAU as well as at other AKS universities and institutes of higher education, focusing in particular on media-assisted teaching and ‘autonomous learning’.

Audio recordings

The Department of Media and Autonomous Learning runs the FAU recording studio together with the Institute of Theatre and Media Studies. Voice recordings are made here regularly for the Language Centre, particularly for listening comprehensions or pronunciation practice in our in-house language learning programmes.
Post production services are also offered (editing and improving sound quality).

In addition, the Department offers various means of making high quality (mobile) sound recordings outside the recording studio, as required, for example, for certain types of examinations.

Video recordings

The Department of Media and Autonomous Learning offers language teachers the option of recording teaching sequences or presentations as a video.
This is particularly interesting for training oral skills or in courses covering presentation techniques.
