English for Academic and Special Purposes (EASP)

The task of this department is to enable FAU undergraduates, graduates and employees to gain competency in English as a means to more readily function in a globalised world.

We offer a comprehensive programme with approximately 80 courses per semester, which range from level B1 to C1 as defined by the CEFR. The majority of our courses are centered around level B2 (UNIcert® II) and C1 (UNIcert® III).

The department offers English electives (both voluntary and mandatory) as well as a number of modules for various BA and MA degree programs.

Additionally, the demand for English courses for administrative staff has drastically increased. Finally, we offer writing consultations for students, lecturers and researchers in conjunction with the English part of the Writing Centre.
