FAU Distinguished Service Medal for Prof. Dr. Gerhard Koller
During the ceremony for the 50th anniversary of the Language Centre, Vice President Education Prof. Dr. Bärbel Kopp presented the FAU Distinguished Service Medal to Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Gerhard Koller on behalf of the Executive Board.
This award recognises the achievements of Prof. Dr. Koller over the many years he was head of the Language Centre.
In her laudatory speech, Prof. Kopp outlined the reasons for the award:
- Prof. Dr. G. Koller moulded the FAU Language Centre during the twenty years he was its director, turning it into one of the leading e-learning locations for languages and one of the largest institutions of its kind in Germany.
- While he was still in office, the Language Centre was granted the status of a central research institution, serving all faculties.
- Gerhard Koller placed the Language Centre in a excellent position to meet the foreign language requirements of all subjects at FAU, supporting them in their efforts to promote internationalisation.
The Language Centre and Professor Koller are delighted by the award.
