What do I need to do if I want to study at FAU?
The Student Advice and Career Service (IBZ) is responsible for answering queries relating to studying and applying for a place at FAU.
How do I apply for a place on a DSH course (preparatory German course)?

Can I learn German at FAU?
German language classes are available for members of FAU only, above all for students, visiting scientists, and staff. Further information about German courses for students of all disciplines is available here.
How do I apply for a space on a DSH course?
You must apply to the Admissions Office of FAU if you would like to register for a DSH course. All the important information about preparatory German courses (DSH) is available here.
Do you offer German courses outside the lecture period?
Is it possible to gain a German language certificate at the Language Centre?
The Language Centre does not offer any language proficiency examinations for German according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) nor any B1 or B2 examinations. We are therefore unable to assist if you need such a certificate for applying for a place at university, a residence permit or similar.
Can you help me to find a language tandem?
The German as a Foreign Language department does not offer any assistance with finding language tandems. Please contact the staff at the Self-Access Language Learning Centre.
